So as you may or may not know, I love writing. What you also may not know is that I have tried (unsuccessfully) to publish a novel I wrote recently. Rather than wallow in my own failure, I figured I’d go another route with the whole novel thing: the internet.
Nope, it’s not going to be the novel I tried to publish, it will be a totally new one. Oh and you (yes you, the reader) will help me write it. Here’s how it’s going to work.
1) I will post the first chapter within the next few days. At the end I will pose a question relating to where the story should go next, or perhaps ask you to fill in other details (characters, setting, etc. etc.).
2) You will have about 2 days to comment on the post with your ideas, after which I will close commenting.
3) I’ll pick one of your ideas and incorporate it into the next installment of the novel.
Sounds good? What say you?

Kunal
I think the main character should be Kunal =P. And it can be a novel about his adventures through this crazy world.

I think somewhere in there we’d have to include “star performer.” It’s a must. :p

Very interesting idea! As an aside, though, I wouldn’t want to give up on someday publishing the first one. It’s great that you’re moving past the disappointment and staying active with writing, but save the old one for sure (and I’d like to see it, too, if you wouldn’t mind

Sounds fun! I’ve seen a few internet stories evolve based on reader feedback, and find them pretty entertaining and interactive. Reminds me of the “Choose your own Adventure” books from way back when

you know who
it should be a horror story. involving ice cream trucks, and eerie music. and a little girl who yearns, only once, to get some ice cream from that truck that passes by her house at night. and only she can hear it or see it. but little does she know that the spirit that resides within the ice cream truck has plans to possess her body and avenge its murder, which was committed by….(can’t say or it’ll ruin the story)

you know who
you should do a vignette. each installment a different point of view of suspects in a crime mystery. and slowly, as each installment unfolds, one person’s point of view will solidify the case of another person being guilty. and the climax can be the last character (the victim) before he or she was murdered, and that will wrap up and clarify who actually committed the murder… or will it be left open to interpretation?
